Electrify Seattle

Join the Campaign for Clean Buildings and Healthy Communities

The City of Seattle is an international leader on climate action, with some of the strongest emissions reductions goals in the nation. The City is currently considering two new policies to transition large buildings to clean energy and eliminate fossil fuel-based climate pollution.

The City of Seattle is developing a policy - Building Emissions Performance Standards (or BEPS) - to transition large commercial and multi-family buildings off of fossil fuels to address the climate crisis and protect public health and safety. This policy sets timelines for different types of buildings to transition off of polluting fossil fuels over the coming years.

Simultaneously, City leaders are working with Unite Here Local 8 and other labor organizations to develop the Living Hotels policy, to set strong environmental and social justice standards for new hotel construction in Seattle.

The Electrify Seattle coalition is committed to supporting both of these policies as part of broader efforts to build a Green New Deal in Seattle, tackle the climate crisis, create jobs, and build a brighter future for the City.

Tell Mayor Harrell and the City Council to ensure we meet our climate goals!
